Micro Computed Tomography Scanner (Micro CT)

A unique three dimensional microcomputed tomography system is available in the Orthopaedic Research Laboratories. This facility enables the complete three-dimensional digitization of small specimens at resolutions of between 10 and 75 microns. The scanner provides core facility support for multiple investigators in Orthopaedics, as well as in other departments at the University of Michigan and other institutions across the country. Its most frequent utilization is related to its ability to provide quantifiable measures of bone architecture and morphology in three dimensions. It continues to be a valuable resource, advancing our ability to study musculoskeletal tissues.
